Ukraine’s military says Russian forces suffered heavy losses over the past 24 hours, with approximately 980 soldiers killed or wounded, according to a report by General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In its morning bulletin, the General Staff said that cumulative Russian personnel losses since the start of the 2022 full-scale invasion now stand at roughly 1,168,550.
Alongside personnel casualties, Ukraine stated that the Russian military also lost a range of equipment and assets in the same period: including several tanks, artillery pieces, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), vehicles, and other matériel, part of what Kyiv describes as recent battlefield gains.
As with past casualty reports, these figures come from Ukraine’s own General Staff, and such claims are difficult to independently verify amid wartime restrictions and the opaque nature of casualty documentation.
For now, Moscow has not released parallel figures to confirm or refute the numbers. Meanwhile, the announcement underscores the intensity of ongoing clashes, and will likely draw renewed scrutiny from international observers monitoring the war’s human and material cost.
