House Demands Release of All Epstein Files After Overwhelming Vote
The US House of Representatives delivered a rare show of unity after voting 427–1 to force the Justice Department to release all unclassified files connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Lawmakers pushed the measure through after growing frustration over years of secrecy surrounding Epstein’s network, his long list of powerful associates, and the circumstances of his 2019 death.
The bill, known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act, orders the Justice Department to publish the documents with only minimal redactions to protect victims. Lawmakers said the public deserves a full accounting of how authorities handled Epstein’s crimes and who may have enabled or protected him. Survivors’ groups called the vote a long-overdue step toward transparency.
The political landscape shifted quickly after former President Donald Trump reversed his opposition and said he would sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The Senate is expected to take up the measure soon. If it passes, the Justice Department will be legally required to release the files within a set timeframe, setting the stage for one of the most significant public disclosures of a criminal case in years.
