Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has publicly praised Ahmed, the bystander who risked his life to disarm an attacker during the Bondi Beach terror attack, after video of the incident spread widely online. In a post on X, Albanese described Ahmed as “an Australian hero” and thanked him on behalf of the nation, saying his actions showed the best of Australia in a moment of extreme danger.
The video, which went viral within hours, shows Ahmed running toward the attacker and intervening despite being seriously injured. Albanese later visited Ahmed in hospital, where he is recovering from gunshot wounds, and said his bravery had united Australians during a time of grief and shock following the attack.
